A few days before the start of this years Giro I was trying to predict the final top-5 and I was finding it really difficult. It appeared that the field was light on quality grand-tour contenders almost as if the Giro was threatening to join the Vuelta e Espana as a second-tier Grand Tour below the Tour de France.
This year I had planned a lot of things, one of which was a project to take a photograph a day for every day of the year. Unfortunately it went wrong sometime in February, when due to running late one day I ended up forgetting to take a photo. The realisation was my first waking thought the next morning and I was crushed. I resolved to take a photo to highlight the fact that I had forgotten to take a photo. A compromise, but I felt it allowed me to move on and carry on with the project.
